WHISKEY ROW MARATHON GUIDE & RUNNING ROUTES
As an Arizona running tradition for 38 years, the Whiskey Row Marathon is among the toughest races in the country. Featuring rugged terrain, an altitude in excess of one mile above sea level and, on occasion, severe weather, it’s challenging, fun and offers a number of running routes for runners of all skill and fitness levels, including a half marathon, a 10k and a 2 mile run/walk.

This out-and-back course is considered one of the most challenging in the United States. Starting at 5,280 feet, the elevation increases to 7,000 feet over the first seven miles, then down to 5,600 feet at the 13-mile turn around. The course is paved road for the first and last five miles, while the rest of the running route is a trail race on a dirt road maintained by the US Forest Service.
Please note: The 10k race is a loop course.
Marathon, Half Marathon: Start on Montezuma in front of the Palace Bar heading South, West (right) on Goodwin, North (right) on Summit, West (left) on Gurley, South (left) on Hassayampa Village Ln., West (right) on Copper Basin Drive and onto Forest Service dirt road to thumb Butte Park. The course is a turn-around course.
2 Mile: The 2 mile course is back to the same route from 2001. Head South on Montezuma to the turnaround at Copper Basin and WhiteSpar, then back to the finish line.
10K: The 10K is a loop course. Head South on Montezuma, West (right) on Goodwin, North (right) on Summit, West (left) on Gurley, South (left) on Hassayampa Village Ln, East (left) on Copper Basin, North (left) on Cypress, East (right) on Linden, North (left) on Cherry, East (right) on Middlebrook, South (right) on Birch, East (left) on Linden, East (left) on Copper Basin, North (left) on WhiteSpar to finish line. **Note** For safety and traffic concerns, we have changed the 10K bypass slightly. Instead of the additional distance being made up off Park Ave, it will be made up off Copper Basin. Download map of 10K route.

Event Registration: Register Now
Runners and guests may park in the city’s five-story parking garage on Granite Street (located less than two blocks from the starting line). A $5 parking fee may apply. Streets around the area will be closed. We do NOT advise parking on streets downtown.
Runners may store valuables or drop bags labeled with their bib numbers. These items may be picked up at the Finish Line/Refreshment Garden area after the race.
Please note: Clothing and other items discarded along the running routes will be available for pick up at noon on Sunday, May 15th at the James Family Prescott YMCA. Items not picked up by May 31st will be donated to local charities.
